"Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude, and we want to express our deepest appreciation for the support we’ve received from KCM. "

My spouse and I, both aged 65, embarked on a journey that would ultimately transform our lives for the better. Struck by unexpected financial hardships, we found ourselves at a crossroads, seeking assistance from Katy Christian Ministries (KCM).

Our story was one of dedication and service, with my husband having devoted 15 years of his life to our local church. Yet, a sudden layoff left us in a state of uncertainty, compounded by the revelation that our church had not been contributing to unemployment taxes, rendering my husband ineligible for unemployment benefits. The subsequent seven-month wait for an appeal response had become a source of mounting stress for us.

As we walked through the doors of KCM, our anxiety was palpable. The fear of not being able to meet our basic needs, such as mortgage payments and electricity bills, weighed heavily on our hearts. Despite our embarrassment, we were met with open arms by a dedicated Case Manager who recognized our vulnerability and reassured us that seeking help was a sign of strength, not weakness.

Gathering the necessary documentation was a step toward a brighter future, and with KCM’s support, our burdens began to lift. Assistance was extended to cover our mortgage and electricity bills, and we were also enrolled in the KCM Food Pantry program, ensuring we would not go hungry. The scope of aid widened as the Case Manager helped us navigate the complexities of healthcare options, guiding us through the process of securing Medicaid coverage, obtaining discounts for prescription medications, and enrolling in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

Our resilience paid off as our applications for assistance were approved across the board. The weight that had been pressing down on us for so long was finally lifted, and we felt a newfound sense of freedom. No longer burdened by worries about our essential needs, we were able to move on without the heavy cloud of stress hanging over us. The journey to self-sufficiency and peace of mind had begun.

Our Case Manager went above and beyond, ensuring that we were also enrolled in the Senior Santa Sleigh Program, a gesture that demonstrated that the caring spirit of the community extended beyond our immediate needs.

Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude, and we want to express our deepest appreciation for the support we’ve received from KCM. In our eyes, the organization has not only provided much-needed assistance but has also restored our faith in the goodness of humanity. Our lives have been transformed by the understanding and compassion we encountered, and we’re committed to pass it on and pay it forward.

God Bless You, KCM!
