2015 End of Year Giving

December 8, 2015

Katy Christian Ministries (KCM) would like to thank you and our community for your generosity and help in “Transforming lives.” With your continued support, KCM has been able to fulfill its mission by providing essential services through our core programs, which include Food Pantry, Social Services, and the Crisis Center. From feeding the hungry, assiting those in need, to providing advocacy and support to victims of Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse, together we are transforming lives here in our own community.

The following is a testimony from a former KCM client, whose life has been transformed, and dreams of  giving back to others who have also experienced hardship:

To Katy Christian Ministries:

Elizabeth Booth – (Photo and Letter used with Permission)

It’s not possible to fully express the gratitude and love I have in my heart for every volunteer and staff member at Katy Christian Ministries. Your ministry not only changed my life, it quite literally saved it! I walked through your doors on a warm day in spring of 2015, hanging on by the thinnest of hairs. I was a wreck, my life was in shambles and worse yet,   I was contemplating suicide. Seriously! I didn’t know what else to do. I was a failing the people I loved, myself and it was hopeless.

I was so afraid of the future, I didn’t want to face it. But Karina wasn’t frightened. Karina was the first Crisis Center staff member I met and she didn’t blink an eye. She sat me down and we got right to it and I could tell, she wasn’t letting me walk out those doors. Not without doing everything in her power to reach me. And she did. Soon I found myself surrounded by the most compassionate and remarkable group of women I have ever met. You wonderful beings didn’t judge me, you didn’t dismiss me. You embraced me, reassured me and made me feel safe. You fed mesaw to it I had essentials, which I didn’t ( thank you! ) prayed with me and for me. But the most important thing you gave me that day was hope.

Hope may sound cliché’? I don’t know, I don’t care. HOPE is huge, I didn’t have any and you ladies at KCM gave it all back to me in a matter of seconds. So, with the help of Lizet and our counseling sessions, I was able to navigate the trauma of the past, put it in proper perspective, and go forward. Lizet gave me tools so I could successfully cut the chains of sabotage, helped me develop strategies to keep the past in the past. Finally I was anchored on solid ground for the first time in over 40 years.

And while the future is still uncertain, I am not afraid. I face it with optimism, a lot of love and a renewed spirit. Through the power of God, nothing is impossible! So, all I can say is Praise God for KCM! (Honestly, I don’t know how to thank you enough.) God Bless you. God Bless Katy Christian Ministry! Thank you all so very much. You saved a life.

Thank you,
Elizabeth Booth

2016 Santa’s Sleigh Adoption Registration

iStock_000004497502XSmall.jpgThank you for your interest in the KCM Santa’s Sleigh Program.  Your generosity and thoughtfulness will enable the family you adopt to have the kind of Christmas they might not have without your participation.

We have found that while some families are given truckloads of gifts, others receive only a few.  This is particularly difficult for children to understand.  In an effort to treat families fairly, we are enclosing guidelines for gift giving.

We will be sending you the children’s Santa letters along with their first names, ages, and sizes.  If you feel some of the requests are excessive, please do not be offended.  Remember, these are the children’s “wish lists”.  They will be delighted with whatever they receive.  If you “adopt” a senior adult, we will provide a “wish list” along with their first name and sizes.  We hope this additional information will make your shopping easier.

Determine the number of children or senior adults in which you or your group or organization would like to “adopt”.  Fill out the online registration form below.

You may also download and print the registration form and mail it to P.O. Box 986, Katy, TX  77492.

KCM will match your requests as closely as possible.  The deadline to adopt is November 24, 2015.  KCM will process (match) your “adoption request” between November 1 and December 1, 2015.

Katy Christian Ministries and Darden Restaurants Partner to Advance Helping Those in Need

Katy Christian Ministries (KCM) has been selected to receive a $3000 grant as part of the Restaurant Community Grants program from the Darden Restaurants Foundation, Inc., the charitable arm of Darden Restaurants. The grants program, now in its third year, empowers each restaurant in the Darden family of brands to help award a $1,000 grant to support local community programs. The donation will help facilitate KCM’s mission to feed and care for those in our community who are in need.

Darden’s Red Lobster, Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse, Bahama Breeze, Seasons 52, The Capital Grille, Eddie V’s and Yard House brands participated in the program. Many restaurants and brands worked together to award one nonprofit organization with a larger grant and make a greater impact in their community.  Nonprofits receiving grants support one of Darden’s three key focus areas: education, preservation of natural resources and hunger relief.

“We are so thankful to Darden’s support specifically, Red Lobster, Olive Garden and LongHorn Steakhouse, as we strive to make a difference in the greater Katy community.” Said KCM CEO, Deysi Crespo

“We strive to make a positive impact in all the communities our restaurants serve,” said Gene Lee, Darden’s president and chief operating officer. “Our employees are incredibly passionate about getting directly involved in their local communities, and our Restaurant Community Grants program enables each of our restaurant teams to make a difference right in their own backyard.”

The money will go to support KCM’s Food Pantry, Social Services and Crisis Center operations.
