Homework Buddies

Is your child struggling with homework? Join us for Homework Buddies!

Homework Buddies is a KCM Social Services Program led by Student Volunteers.
This small tutoring program meets once a week, and we invite young students in need to see us for help with their homework with an added emphasis on strengthening their skills in reading and math! “I understand that it is often very expensive to hire a private tutor to help kids with difficulties in school, or to attend a tutoring center, so it is our goal to provide opportunities to get help, free of cost! My sister and I are extremely dedicated and we are more than willing to help as much as we can, even if only one student shows up. Our target group is elementary and junior high students” Sauman and Chelsea Teng

Santa’s Sleigh – Adopt a child for Christmas Program 2017

UPDATE 12/7/17: Because of YOU our kids are adopted out! If you would still like to contribute new, unwrapped toys, gift cards, or monetary gifts, these help fill in our kids wish lists with items they may not have received. SantasSleigh@ktcm.org

It’s that time of year again! Every year KCM partners with donors in the community to provide Christmas gifts for children and senior adults in need in our community. The child/senior will fill out a wish list of about 5 items that includes their favorite colors, sports, clothing sizes, etc., and the donor will shop for those items, bring them to KCM, where they will be distributed to the family of the adopted child or to your adopted senior adult. Parents are already registering and now it’s time to register donors, and match them with the children! If you, your family, your small group, office co-workers, or social group would like to adopt a child, a family of children, or even a few families let us know!

  1. Click the “Adopt” button below
  2. Fill out the form completely, letting us know if prefer child(ren) or a senior adult, and how many. (You can always start with one or two and adopt more later if you decide to!)
  3. Wait to hear from a KCM staff/volunteer with specifics about your adoptee’s wish list.
  4. Shop for items on the wish list.
  5. Drop items off at KCM at designated time/location! (You can request a donation receipt for tax purposes).

For questions, email: SantasSleigh@ktcm.org

Silent Witness: A Night to Remember 2017

KCM is honored to announce the 2017 Silent Witness Event. This is truly a special evening to remember the lives of those lost to Domestic Violence in Texas and to learn more about how to be a part of the healing process for survivors. This year the event will be held at Westland Baptist Church, 1407 West Grand Parkway South, Katy, TX 77494.

We invite you to attend this special evening, free and open to the community, as we comemorate the lives of those lost to Domestic Violence in Texas last year. Dinner will be provided to attendees and the evening will also feature a commemorative rose ceremony.

The Silent Witness project/community event consists of a traveling exhibit of life-sized, free-standing, red, wooden silhouettes. The silhouettes represent a woman, man or child who was murdered by their intimate partner or by a family member. The mission of this project is to remind us of the impact domestic homicides and family violence has within our community. Because these victims no longer have a voice, the silhouettes are called the Silent Witnesses.

Our Key Note Speaker is Sandra Lopez, LCSW, ACSW, DCSW.  Her research centers around Trauma in Adults, Children and Adolescents, Grief & Loss, Professional Self-Care, Cultural Competency, Clinical Supervision, and Ethical Issues.

Thank you for your part in helping promote peace and safety in our community. We hope to see you at this event.

Souper Bowl of Caring 2018

KCM’s Souper Bowl of Caring 2018

Katy Christian Ministries is proud to participate in this National movement.

We sincerely hope you will consider Katy Christian Ministries for your Souper Bowl of Caring food drive. Our goal this year is to raise $4,000 dollars to help support KCM Food Pantry, and collect 6,000 pounds of food. We rely on the partnership of individuals and groups to help us achieve this goal!  Did you know that 6,000 pounds of food will feed 750 people in the local community? 6,000 pounds of food is equal to $11,550 worth of food that KCM will then distribute to families in need.

From now and through the week of the Super Bowl LII (February 4th).

Where can I donate food Items?

  • Directly to Katy Christian Ministries, 5506 First Street, Katy, TX 77493 (Please let them know its part of Souper Bowl of Caring!)
  • Grocery Stores that are participating, and whose collections come directly to KCM through our partnership with the Houston Food Bank:

Want to get your church, school or social group involved? There are loads of free resources available through the www.souperbowl.org website! Register your group and start collecting! There are lots of opportunities to get your church involved! One idea is to mobilize your youth group to challenge not only your own church, but also other church youth groups to see how much can be collected. A bit of friendly competition in the spirit of the super bowl may be all it takes to get people to participate!
