Homework Buddies

Is your child struggling with homework? Join us for Homework Buddies!

Homework Buddies is a KCM Social Services Program led by Student Volunteers.
This small tutoring program meets once a week, and we invite young students in need to see us for help with their homework with an added emphasis on strengthening their skills in reading and math! “I understand that it is often very expensive to hire a private tutor to help kids with difficulties in school, or to attend a tutoring center, so it is our goal to provide opportunities to get help, free of cost! My sister and I are extremely dedicated and we are more than willing to help as much as we can, even if only one student shows up. Our target group is elementary and junior high students” Sauman and Chelsea Teng

Year-End Giving 2017

Letter from the Executive Director

Dear Friends of KCM,
God continues to provide and as we approach the end of 2017, we are constantly reminded to lean on His faithfulness and rejoice in our triumphs and tribulations. “For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.” Isiah 41:13. We know our community has endured so much this last quarter with families affected by Harvey. These were families who never imagined their lives would take a different turn. Families who were already going through various financial difficulties and stressors in their lives were pushed over the edge by Harvey’s impact. Families have yet to have the time to grieve, and sadly, victimizations of domestic violence and/or sexual abuse are on the rise this last quarter. Families are hurting deeply in all aspects of their lives: emotionally, physically, financially and spiritually. Yet, we remain positive and in constant prayer to be able to meet the needs of our community. This message is to thank you for walking this journey with us in unity to help our neighbors, our church brothers and sisters, and for you to know that we appreciate your gifts of love which help us transform lives. Thank you for your financial support during our time of need as we continue to recover from the damages that we as a ministry sustained from the flood. We are blessed to have the churches’ support that without, our mission would not be possible. We thank all of our donors who have provided in-kind and/or monetary contributions along the way to help in so many different projects aligned with our mission, as well as helping us with our own flood recovery efforts. Because of you, we continue our endeavors faithfully and remain humbled and committed to serve the least of these in our caring community. We do this by keeping our core values at the forefront now more than ever. KCM Core Values:
Christ-Centered Reflecting the love of Christ by caring for each other.
Compassion Creating an environment of respect and healing with a commitment to listen, pray, serve and maintain confidentiality.
Faith-driven Celebrating that faith is the foundation for healing and change.
Hope Providing an answer to our clients’ prayers during difficult times.
Transformation Ensuring that through KCM’s services, each client is moving toward empowerment and an improved quality of life.

ECFA Accreditation in the Midst of Harvey Recovery.

One of our tasks in our current Strategic Plan was to become an accredited faith-based organization by the Evangelical Council of Financial Accountability. With perseverance and faith, this was accomplished on September 4, 2017.
“When I received the email from ECFA approving our accreditation, there was much excitement celebrating the moment of hard work. Most importantly, we celebrated the moment because we consider this a huge milestone in the history of KCM; a vehicle of transparency and accountability of good stewardship in our community” said Deysi Crespo, Executive Director
ECFA accreditation is based on the ECFA Seven Standards of Responsible Stewardship™, including financial accountability, transparency, sound board governance and ethical fundraising.
Katy Christian Ministries joins a growing number of Christ-centered churches and ministries across America, supported by over 27 million donors that have earned the right to display the ECFA seal. When an organization is accredited by ECFA, it demonstrates its willingness to follow the model of biblical accountability.
“We are pleased to accredit a ministry committed to transforming lives through God’s grace and the generosity of the community,” said Dan Busby, president of ECFA.

Santa’s Sleigh – Adopt a child for Christmas Program 2017

UPDATE 12/7/17: Because of YOU our kids are adopted out! If you would still like to contribute new, unwrapped toys, gift cards, or monetary gifts, these help fill in our kids wish lists with items they may not have received. SantasSleigh@ktcm.org

It’s that time of year again! Every year KCM partners with donors in the community to provide Christmas gifts for children and senior adults in need in our community. The child/senior will fill out a wish list of about 5 items that includes their favorite colors, sports, clothing sizes, etc., and the donor will shop for those items, bring them to KCM, where they will be distributed to the family of the adopted child or to your adopted senior adult. Parents are already registering and now it’s time to register donors, and match them with the children! If you, your family, your small group, office co-workers, or social group would like to adopt a child, a family of children, or even a few families let us know!

  1. Click the “Adopt” button below
  2. Fill out the form completely, letting us know if prefer child(ren) or a senior adult, and how many. (You can always start with one or two and adopt more later if you decide to!)
  3. Wait to hear from a KCM staff/volunteer with specifics about your adoptee’s wish list.
  4. Shop for items on the wish list.
  5. Drop items off at KCM at designated time/location! (You can request a donation receipt for tax purposes).
